Sofya Savransky
Sofya received her PhD in Molecular Pharmacology from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine where she studied the role of GPCRs in parathyroid hormone secretion regulation. Outside of lab, she enjoys painting and photography, as well as spending time with her dog Einstein, family and friends.

Brian List
Brian began lab work in the Nunemaker lab at Ohio University, where he studied glucose metabolisms role in the development of type 2 diabetes. Outside of the lab he enjoys fitness, disc golf, and watching football.

Parishmita Sarma
Parishmita completed her Ph.D. in December 2024 from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India, where she studied the molecular mechanisms underlying intrinsic bias and transducer coupling in seven-transmembrane receptors. Outside the lab, she finds joy in hiking, engaging in crafts like crocheting, quilling, and mandala art, listening to music, and cooking.

Sunyoung received a Bachelor of Journalism and a Bachelor of Science from Korea University, where she fell into the fascinating world of microbiology. Rachel Muir
Rachel received her PhD in April of 2023 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she studied the impact of early life stress on inflammatory bowel disease. She joined the Pluznick lab in September of 2023. In her free time she enjoys music, hiking, and going to breweries and museums.

Mackenzie Kui
Mackenzie’s first exposure to lab research began as an undergraduate at UCSB where he studied reproductive diapause in fruit flies. After earning his degree in 2018, Mackenzie transitioned into small molecule development while working at City of Hope and Oncovalent Therapeutics. Outside of the lab, you can find him rock climbing or playing beach volleyball.

Jiaojiao Xu
Jiaojiao Xu graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with her PhD in Oct of 2017, where she studied the modulation of salty taste in human taste cells by dipeptides. She joined the lab in October of 2018 as a postdoctoral fellow, and was promoted to Research Associate in July 2023.
